LGS ASDAN T
his has been a very successful Year in ASDAN, with more students being able to access the course.
The Year 10s had a brilliant day at The ASDAN celebratory awards ceremony at Bristol Zoo where they presented their Radio Play to over 200 people. They then spent the afternoon relaxing and looking around the zoo. It was a very proud moment and our students were brilliant and very confi dent when presenting their work.
The Year 11s work has been moderated and I am confi dent they will all gain a Level 2 (46 points, equivalent to a grade
B at GCSE). They have also passed their Entry level Health and Safety Award, which I am sure, will help them in life outside of school.
The Year 9s have almost fi nished their Bronze Award and 21 students have chosen ASDAN as an option out of a possible 36.
This course does improve self esteem but it also gives the student’s s the skills which helps them within their other subjects.

Music O2 ARENA PERFORMANCE O
n the 6th July, Great Marlow School choir sang at the O2 Arena with over 5,000 students from other schools across the South East. This
followed months of hard work learning songs and moves. The choir per- formed 27 songs, mainly with a James Bond connection, including Gold- fi nger, Die Another Day, Nobody Does it Better and License to Kill. The massed choirs were accompanied by a live orchestra and the evening fea- tured various celebrity performers including soap stars and fi nalists from Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Somewhere over the Rainbow programme.
The choir did an amazing job and were thrilled with their opportunity to perform at such a venue and we received many comments from people who attended the concert about how amazing it was.
