A fifth Diggerland amusement park is to open in the UK. The project in Evesham Worcestershire, will be part of a revamp of the town's country park and open in 2016. Other Diggerland parks, featuring ride-able diggers, excavation vehicles and dumper trucks, can be found in County Durham, West Yorkshire, Devon and Kent. Operator HE Services, whose main business is plant hire, also opened its first US Outlet last year in New Jersey.


As well as a Larson Giant Loop called Harley Quinn Spinsanity (see page 33), Six Flags Over Georgia in Atlanta has also added a Tilt-A-Whirl from the same manufacturer to its line-up for 2015. The classic carnival attraction has been named Harley Quinn Spinsanity.


Battlestar is back!


Guests at Universal Studios Singapore can finally engage in “combat” on the Battlestar Galactica twin coaster, which reopened last month. The ride features two tracks – Human (red) and Cyclon (blue) – which are intertwined and gives passengers the choice of either a standard or suspended rollercoaster experience. The Vekoma attraction originally opened when the park debuted in 2012 but was closed a year later due to problems. Now with new two-abreast instead of four-abreast trains, it’s ready for battle once more.


The Welsh amusement park Oakwood, Pembrokeshire, has a new managing director in the shape of Gary Davies. The former CEO and strategy director of the South West Wales Tourism Partnership fills the position vacant since the departure last August of former director Dominic Jones. Davies is also a former head of marketing and PR at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. “Gary is one of the most experienced and capable marketers currently working in the tourism industry and brings with him a huge level of expertise,” says Sue Elaiho from the UK division of Aspro, the park’s Spanish owner. www.oakwoodthemepark.co.uk


Flambard’s amusement park, Cornwall, England, has opened a 48- seat Sky Swinger (wave swinger) courtesy of Lamborghini Rides, Italy. It’s part of an investment that also includes the reopening of the Demon Dropslide after a four-year absence and launch of Humbugs Victorian- themed sweet shop.

Polin Waterparks has established a formal partnership with Aqua Azur of Romania, one of that country’s leading suppliers and designers of aquatic facilities, having completed more than 55 projects turnkey pool projects for both public and residential indoor/outdoor installations. The two companies have collaborated for some years, but now Aqua Azur is looking forward to becoming official distributor of Polin products in Romania, offering a wide variety of new attractions, some of which have never been seen before in this market.
