A staple of the US carnival circuit for years, the Super Loop/Fireball is back – bigger and better for the

o fewer than six of the re-engineered rides will open this season in the US. In Jackson, New Jersey, guests at Six Flags Great Adventure

can “feel the heat” as they step on board the devilishly- themed El Diablo. The 72ft high (22m) fiery red, looping thrill ride is located in the Mexican-themed Plaza del Carnaval section of the park. It features riders sitting in face- to-face seats rocketing forward and backward pendulum style until the train gains enough momentum to complete a full revolution seven storeys in the air. The “coaster” then kicks into high gear, completing full revolutions until it stops momentarily with riders suspended upside down, and then reverses direction. They then experience six inversions before the train finally comes to a stop. "The Jersey devil inspired the theme for our newest

attraction,” notes John Fitzgerald, park president at Six Flags Great Adventure. Additional Giant Loops can be found this season at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (named Dare Devil Chaos), Six Flags Over Georgia (Joker's Chaos) and Six Flags America (Bourbon Street Fireball). Meanwhile at Darien Lake, Darien Center, New York, Rolling Thunder is the headline attraction of the park's 52nd

season. It too stands 22m tall, but features a green and dark blue colour scheme with LED lights around outside of the loop, identical in look to Brain Drain launched last season at Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado. Yet another Giant Loop, also called, Brain Drain, is now in operation at Frontier City, Oklahoma City. Confusingly, Brain Drain is the name of a different attraction at Darien Lake, also new for 2015, a 70ft (21m) high waterslide from ProSlide that offers two identically-designed and simultaneously-launched freefall drops. All three parks above are operated by Premier Parks LLC.
