Justice League
Guests at two Six Flags parks in the US are in for a fresh superhero encounter courtesy of the new Sally dark ride Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. Billed as North America’s first interactive 4D dark ride, the attraction can be found at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington and Six Flags St Louis in the Missouri city of the same name. Visitors to these parks can now team up with Superman,
Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash after accepting the challenge to outwit Lex Luthor and The Joker’s plans to destroy the city of Metropolis. As Justice League reserve team members, riders travel in sleek six-seater motion- base vehicles and engage in a full-sensory battle, complete with 4D effects of fire, cannon blasts and explosions and the world’s first-ever “virtual loop” on a dark ride. Sally Corporation designed the complete experience including story development, scenery, and life-like animatronics that guests encounter throughout the ride. Pure Imagination created the 3D graphics and film. Alterface headed up the gaming elements and Oceaneering designed the ride vehicles. Full profiles of the two attractions will feature in Park World’s annual dark ride review, published in our August issue.
Voyage to the Iron Reef
Cedar Fair’s latest big budget interactive dark ride has opened at Knott's Berry Farm outside Los Angeles. Voyage to the Iron Reef features four-person submarine-inspired ride vehicles by ART Engineering that takes passengers on a media-based gaming adventure below the park’s Boardwalk zone. Reuniting the same team that created Wonder Mountain’s Guardian for Cedar Fair last season at Canada’s Wonderland, Triotech designed and deployed Iron Reef’s projection and interactive gaming systems as well as the content which allows guests to experience a 3D adventure enhanced with 4D effects. Equipped with an interactive freeze ray device, guests embark on a
Steampunk-inspired adventure as they combat the Kraken Queen and her scavenging minions and attempt to save Knott’s from destruction. Along the way, the submarines navigate 600ft of track and 11 scenes featuring hundreds of creatures and other special effects. It’s an interactive voyage that’s different every time and reacts to the actions and accuracy of passengers onboard.
