Uniting Hong Kong’s

diverse attractions The Hong Kong Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (HKAAPA) is now two-and-a-half years young. Our mission is to unite the diverse amusement parks and attractions of Hong Kong, working closely to promote safety, connect members with manufacturers and suppliers, develop young professionals and ensure the continued success of Hong Kong tourism. We serve as ambassadors to promote a positive image of the industry and as a voice to the government and public on industry matters. We celebrated our second anniversary at the start of this year during a

ceremony held at Ocean Park, in the presence of Miss Cathy Chu, commissioner for tourism. In attendance were representatives of the eight HKAAPA founder members, namely AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong Disneyland, Madame Tussauds, The Peak Tram & The Peak Tower, sky100 Observation Deck, Noah’s Ark and Ngong Ping 360 cable car, in addition to newer members and other industry peers. The past 12 months have marked a year of development for HKAAPA,

evidenced by its 27% growth in membership on the back of strong tourism development in Hong Kong and the region. The total number of companies represented by the association now stands at 25. New members that have signed up this year include the MTR Airport Express, Hong Kong Tramways, The Link Management Limited, Hong Kong 3D Museum, Hong Kong Observation Wheel, Connect Media Company Limited, Trickeye Museum Hong Kong and Digiphoto Entertainment Imaging. Leveraging the strong alliance between members, HKAAPA has in the past

year built good connection with Hong Kong Tourism Board and other industry associations, and acted as an advocate to promote public understanding on the industry’s values. The association has also conducted various staff training services for its members and employees with the aim of enhancing safe operations, professional growth and commercial success of the attractions industry in Hong Kong.

Pauline Chan is the executive vice-president of HKAAPA. Find out more at hkaapa.org BELOW: The Hong Kong Observation Wheel, one of the newest HKAAPA members
