Sliding with dinosaurs!

Thailand’s new Dino Waterpark soft opened this spring. Covering more than 40 acres, the park, as its name suggests, is themed around the Jurassic period and the creatures that used to roam the earth around that time. The accompanying slides and attractions were supplied by Polin Waterparks, including Turkish company’s first Magicone in Asia. This high-capacity waterslide shaped like a gigantic funnel provides an adrenaline-pumping ride and despite its size is, like Polin’s attractions delivered with an RTM “shiny on both sides” finish. The park also offers two Looping Rocket slides with rocket-shaped "launchers",

a Family Rafting Slide, Family Turbolance combo ride, Space Shuttle, WIndingo, Space Boat, Aquatube, Space Hole, family rafting slide anda body slide. There’s also a wave pool, beach, leisure river and an outdoor stage/arena that can accommodate up to 3,000 peopl, together with what Polin claims is one of the world's largest waterplay structures, covers 2,000 square meters (21,527 sq ft) and with 144 interactive water features. A smaller, toddler-sized complex offers a variety of slides. Developer Pratunam Khon Kaen Co mulled over its options for the site in Khon Kaen, northeastern Thailand, for three years before settling on a waterpark.

Splashing around in

Singapore! Empex Watertoys recently completed a splash park installation in Singapore. Working together with Playpoint Singapore, the Canadian company created an exciting array of water features to be enjoyed by children to age 12 at the city’s Sports Hub. A central Aquadek with swaying palms is the centrepiece of the installation. The structure has a large fibreglass slide, a tube slide, a triple rail slide and a preschool slide. The cantilever deck on the structure has interactive water shooters that can aim a soft jet of water at those below. Surrounding the play structure is the Aquawizz, an interactive water

feature from Empex’ Aquanetics line of products. A hand wheel can be turned to create three different water effects. An Aquastream provides a gentle water curtain as families walk through while the Aquafountain sends down several streams of water on the frolicking children below. There are also several features for the very youngest of children. A Baby Bungee provides a moulded seat for babes in arms, giving young moms and dads a place to safely place their infants away from the more boisterous guests. Preschool kids can play on the Aquadome, which supplies toddlers with an array of interactive laminar jets.

Chinese waterpark wonder less than one year away

A ground-breaking ceremony was held on May 20 to mark the start of construction on a new waterpark in China that when it opens in spring next year will feature WhiteWater’s largest single order to date. Yinji Xinmi Waterpark in the Henan province is set to get an impressive line-up

of attractions including two Abyss waterslides, two AquaPlay structures, multiple fusion slides and three wave pools, on top of a No Boundaries adventure structure featuring climbing walls, zip lines and an Adventure Trail ropes course. The Canadian company and industry leader will also provide all installation, engineering and design services. “Over 34 million dollars’ worth of waterslides, design services and AquaPlay

structures will go into this project,” notes WhiteWater CEO and president Geoff Chutter. “It’s really going to wow the industry and Yinji Xinmi Waterpark’s guests.”

Realising that no similar entertainment district existed in the area, the park’s owners invested heavily – the equivalent of US$60 million – to include attractions they hoped would pull visitors over long distances to an area of the country not typically considered a tourist destination. Still in soft opening phase since phase I was unveiled in April, the last of the waterslides are expected to be open by November. A boutique hotel is also planned on site in future.
