easyJet uniforms get UK designer revamp
British fashion designer Jeff Banks has designed new pieces for easyJet cabin crew's uniform.
Six new items have been added for the airline’s 4000-plus cabin crew to choose from in addition to the current uniform worn onboard. They include two dresses complimented by a new longer scarf, leather belt and leather handbag for ladies and a stylish new-look waistcoat and tie for gents which have been voted a huge success by easyJet’s cabin crew and passengers alike. Over 100 cabin crew from across easyJet’s network were chosen for a series of ‘wearer trial’ tests in which they judged the new uniform on design style and comfort, wash and wear performance, easyJet branding and customer reaction.
With over 3,000 female cabin crew and almost 1,500 males ranging between the ages of 18 and 68 years of age, the new uniform has been put together with style and comfort in mind. The end result is an easy-to-wear collection of sharp tailoring and flattering styles which will suit all shapes, sizes and ages.
Angela Mullen, easyJet’s cabin crew service and standards manager said: "Our crew are the face of the airline and it’s essential that they look and feel professional, presentable and confident. The new additions are stylish yet practical. Jeff Banks and ICW Incorporatewear have done a great job!”

Performa to take on Mumbai lounge
gategroup’s lounge service brand Performa and Travel Food Services have won a bid to manage lounge operations at the new Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport. There are four airline lounges at the new terminal which will provide bespoke services to deliver a premium passenger experience. Synergies with other gategroup brands, such as Gate Gourmet, will enable operations to leverage a broad understanding of the local food market, whilst TFS was established to capitalise on food and beverage opportunities in the growing travel infrastructure segment. TFS has emerged as one of the largest travel F&B concessionaires in India, catering to more than 50 million travellers with major operations at Delhi's and Mumbai’s domestic and international airports.
The venture further strengthens the association between gategroup and TFS, who are already collaborating in a joint venture operating under the ‘TFS-Gate’ brand name, focusing on developing F&B on-board services for low cost carriers in India. Herman Anbeek, group senior vp and president of emerging markets at gategroup said: “The expansion of the existing partnership combines the experience and know-how of gategroup’s Performa with that of TFS in airport retail and services in Mumbai and other major cities of India. We hope to create a memorable guest experience for the passengers at Terminal 2 in Mumbai.”

TECHNOLOGY
ANA to use Lufthansa Systems’ IT solutions
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is to use Lufthansa Systems’ IT solutions for its codeshare management.
The Japanese airline has signed a seven- year contract for SchedConnect with its central schedule database for codeshare management and schedule distribution. The solution is designed to optimise the handling of codeshare flights while reducing costs and increasing revenues.
Masafumi Shingo, md, innovation and IT strategy at ANA said: "By using SchedConnect to automatically calculate the optimal codeshare connections throughout our network, we can offer our passengers even better codeshare schedules.” The highly automated SchedConnect solution calculates optimal codeshare connections on a daily basis. To do this, the system processes schedule data from over 150 airlines worldwide.
If a schedule change cuts into a minimum connection time or if a partner flight is cancelled, the system automatically assigns the marketing flight number to another suitable connecting flight operated by the partner. Changes are sent through the reservation systems to travel agents and customers as well as to the operations and passenger-related systems of the airlines involved. Lufthansa Systems operates its codeshare management solution following an Application Service Providing (ASP) model. This includes round-the-clock server operations and the latest infrastructure services.
