CATERING TECHNOLOGY MEIKO moves East

Dishwashing systems supplier MEIKO has opened a regional office in Kuala Lumpur, representing an “ongoing commitment to the Asian market.”

MEIKO managing director Burkhard Randel went on to say: “Together with our long-established companies in China and India, the new Kuala Lumpur office puts a solid emphasis on the newly industrialising markets between Thailand and Indonesia.” The MEIKO brand and MEIKO products are already represented in over 90 countries around the world and more than a decade ago MEIKO delivered what was, at that time, one of the world's biggest dishwashing systems to Kuala Lumpur airport for Malaysia Airlines' catering operations.

Other MEIKO offices are in Australia (Sydney) and India (Bangalore), both of which distribute MEIKO products in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, as well as India. meiko.info

CATERING TECHNOLOGY Alpha LSG on cloud 9

Inflight caterers Alpha LSG has partnered with Getronics on a project to modernise its IT systems and infrastructure. The move is expected to improve desktop management and workspace efficiency, increase flexibility and build scope for future innovation and upgrades and will see Getronics move Alpha LSG’s business data and over 750 employees to a cloud services model. This was seen as the best solution to be able to handle the seasonal peaks and troughs of the travel calendar, ensuring 24/7 availability from any place.

The cloud-based system also enables Alpha LSG to manage costs by moving to an on-demand model and paying only for the infrastructure and services it needs. Charlie Goakes, IT director at Alpha LSG, said: “The single cloud platform will increase efficiency and give us the flexibility to compete in an evolving and competitive marketplace.” alphalsg.co.uk
