Meet the movers and shakers of U.S. history. See where the Declaration of Independence was signed, ask a Founding Father a tricky question, enjoy the view from George Washington’s Virginia home, learn what life is like today for the Amish, hear what it was like to be in a Civil War battle, and kayak, canoe or bicycle along the Potomac.
1. ARRIVE PHILADELPHIA Tour begins: 5:00 PM, Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. You’ll also see the Liberty Bell; ride to the home of Betsy Ross (who created the country’s first flag) in a horse-drawn carriage; and visit the National Constitution Center. 3. FROM AMISH COUNTRY TO GETTYSBURG Head to the farmlands of Lancaster County, where Amish families have chosen to keep the modern world at a distance. You’ll learn about their traditions and lifestyles before a visit to a family homestead and enjoy lunch Amish style. Next at

Gettysburg Nat’l Military Park, you’ll take a guided tour of the Civil War battlefield that ended the Confederacy’s hope for independence in July 1863, in just three days of fierce battle. Over 1,000 monuments honor the thousands who fought and died here. Dessert follows dinner this evening, and a storyteller recounts true tales of local townspeople caught in the middle of the fierce battle. Meals BLD
