3. ARENAL VOLCANO & TREETOP CRUISING Drive along the Pan American Highway, a network of roadways linking North and South America, to Lake Arenal at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Weather permitting, get a closer look at the summit of this restless volcano by water and air as you see it from below during a lake cruise, then as you soar through the air on a sky tram or zip line* ride over lush forests. Your destination tonight is a jungle lodge that sits on the edge of the San Carlos River, where wildlife live in the rainforest next door. Meals BLD

4. LIFE ALONG THE PEÑAS BLANCAS RIVER Climb aboard our big rubber raft for a float trip* on the Peñas Blancas River. It’s a great way to glide into the rainforest without disturbing the wildlife you may spot along its banks or in the river. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys, sloths, iguanas and crocodiles, as well as toucans, herons and kingfishers. Some of the locals you’ll encounter during today’s explorations include the residents of 100+-year-old Don Pedro’s family farm; here’s your chance to learn what life is really like in a virgin forest, where you have to get by without electricity and the trip to town means traveling by canoe. This evening’s Spanish lesson will make you feel like a local too! Meals BLD

5. A WONDERLAND OF PINEAPPLES & NATURE Near the foot of an active volcano, visit an organic pineapple farm to learn how growing and harvesting techniques have evolved over time and how sweet just-picked fresh pineapple tastes! After lunch in a tropical garden setting, take a canal boat cruise to your lodge in Tortuguero, where you will spend the next two nights. Tortuguero means “turtle” in Spanish, giving you a hint at the wildlife that is found in this region of Costa Rica. Meals BLD

6. GO WILD IN TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK Spend the early morning hours cruising the canals of Tortuguero National Park, lined by a wildlife-rich tropical rainforest that is home to howler and spider monkeys, three-toed sloths, toucans, and great green macaws. Other

This was our second time on this tour. Three years ago we took our other granddaughter and we had an excellent experience so we did it again with our younger granddaughter. Not only did she have the time of her life she made new friends. By the way so did we.
