Amazing experiences – a swim with sea lions, Andean culture and traditions, and Peruvian Paso horsemanship
cliff-sided remains. Later, back down in Aguas Calientes at your pueblo-style hotel, a presentation on the spectacled bear (like Paddington Bear, the fictional bear who moved to England from Peru) shares the plight of one of the Andes’ native inhabitants. Once considered magical by early peoples like the Incas, these creatures are nearly extinct; discover how to help! Meals BLD
6. MORNING FUN & A TRAIN TO CUSCO Your morning is free to do what you’d like with a choice of optional activities: a guided nature walk among lush orchid and herb gardens, shopping in the colorful Aguas Calientes marketplace, or a visit to a rehabilitation center for spectacled bears. After lunch, you’ll board the VistaDome once again for the rail trip to Ollanta Station; from here you’ll board a coach bound for the historic city center of Cusco for a two-night stay at your lovely resort-like hotel. 7. MARKETPLACE, FARM & INCAN DISCOVERIES Wake up in Cusco, a city of colonial mansions and churches and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then join us for a walk through the Wanchaq Market – teeming with produce, meats and grains for sale – and a scavenger hunt! Next at Cusco’s Choco Museo, you’ll create your own take-home chocolate treat. Afternoon brings an excursion to the Awanacancha Farm, where you’ll learn about the differences between alpacas and llamas and meet both. On the drive back to Cusco, you’ll view Sacsayhuamán, an ancient and extraordinary Incan structure.
