An epic adventure... awaits in a land where your family can go down into 16th-century catacombs, swim in the sea with playful sea lions, go horseback riding in a Sacred Valley, enjoy a barbecue fired up under hot rocks, set your hearts loose to the lilt of Andean folk music, explore an Incan fortress built by hand of massive stones, discover a city once lost in the clouds, learn what’s endangering a spectacled bear, help to feed a llama, and ride by train through the amazing Andes.
1. ARRIVE LIMA Tour begins: JW Marriott Hotel Lima. A transfer is included from Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport to the JW Marriott Hotel Lima in the Miraflores District, near parks, shopping and entertainment. Most international flights arrive late evening, so enjoy a welcome snack and a good night’s rest.
2. A SWIM WITH SEA LIONS & COLONIAL LIMA An adventure at sea begins this morning in the village of Callao, where you’ll put on a wetsuit and board a private boat to head to the waters just off the coast of San Lorenzo Island. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the hundreds of playful sea lions who call this area home. If you like, you can join these playful creatures for an exhilarating swim, or simply watch the fun from aboard the boat. Later, you’ll do some historic sightseeing in the city that played a major role in the New World from 1542, as your guide introduces Colonial Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sights include the immense Cathedral of Lima, burial place of Francisco Pizarro – the conquistador who founded Lima. And at the Convento de San Francisco, you’ll head down

into catacombs that date back to 1546. But not to worry, the fascinating stacks of bones here were long ago put to their final rest! This evening, join us for a welcome reception and dinner at a modern restaurant in Lima. You’re invited to help with the preparations of some very cool appetizers, entrées and drinks – sure to be hits with your added touch. Meals BLD
