Topcon focuses on providing innovative solutions for the geospatial, construction, rail, civil engineering, surveying, utilities, monitoring and mapping industries using GPS, optical, scanning, and machine control technologies

T

he company’s global network of engineers imagines what technologies should exist and then sets goals turning those ideas into realities. Topcon uses a pre-emptive style of management to solve problems, which focuses the attention of its employees in working to break technological barriers. The company talks to its customers about ways to save time in each phase of every job in the many industries in which it is involved.

Designs and products that fill important technological niches in the global marketplace are thought through and carefully planned. Employees continually examine ways to further integrate positioning and automated technologies to meet the constantly changing demands facing industries worldwide. Topcon prides itself on providing rugged, reliable, easy-to-use products that have been field-tested in order to meet rigid industry standards and then only once this has been achieved, are the products made available to its worldwide dealer network. Topcon has introduced simple solutions to help its customers solve their business problems. Such solutions include: green beam lasers; GPS+ multiple constellation GNSS receivers (GPS+GLONASS); capture reality thru- the-lens imaging technology; mmGPS laser zone GNSS solution and MAGNET survey cloud solution software. Regardless of application needs – from open-field construction projects to isolated survey sites and from rolling farmland to inner city utility tasks, Topcon provides innovative technology that provides a competitive edge for end- users.

The company has pioneered the integration of positioning and automation technologies with one single goal - to save time - which means for its clients, saving money also. Topcon in the United Kingdom addresses the market in the same way - finding the best solution that solves its customers’ problems. Topcon works very closely with the end user to provide that vital solution to its problem. Its products are sold via

dealerships and in each region there is an easily accessible office.

Product portfolio - GRS-1

The smallest and most flexible GNSS receiver, the GRS-1 combines a Windows mobile field controller, dual frequency receiver and L1 antenna all in one lightweight handheld device. Equally at home being used as a standalone GIS mapping grade unit as well as combining with the compact PG-A1 geodetic antenna, the GRS-1 does it all. Ideal while mapping the rail tracks as well as all surroundings.

Service providers use multiple GRS-1s to map, investigate and gather GIS data. The handheld device runs the dedicated software eGIS RAIL and exports collected data into the database for further processing and analysing.

Tesla/Tesla RTK The new Tesla handheld controller features a 5.7 inch full colour VGA touch screen. With a full feature list including wifi, Bluetooth, serial comms, integrated cell modem, L1 GNSS receiver and 3.2MP camera as well as having IP67 and MIL- STD-810G rating, the Tesla is the ideal controller for all field tasks. The Tesla RTK version builds on the base model

by adding the capability to carry out centimetre level measurements using an external GNSS antenna.

PS series robotic

The PS robotics utilise the new PowerTrac technology to increase the prism-tracking power under the toughest environmental conditions. The robotic series is built to be waterproof and dustproof to IP65 standard, and has Topcon’s advanced security and maintenance system, TSshield, exclusive LongLINK communications, and integrated RC-5 remote controller system. The PS robotic is used in high precision rail applications such as setting bedding and slopes or measuring existing track and platforms.

MS AX series hi-precision total station For the ultimate in measuring accuracy, Topcon provides the MS AX geodetic grade total station series. The MS AX range offers angular accuracy to 0.5” and distance measurement to 0.5millimetres. The MS05AX is the perfect sensor for any monitoring, tunneling or high accuracy infrastructure project. Using the matrix detection functionality, multiple prisms can be detected and measured automatically, even in the dark. The Crossrail project is utilising
