Network Rail, Birmingham Gateway Project


The Birmingham Gateway Project, presented by Chris Montgomery, Network Rail project director, will cover the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station - the busiest rail station outside of London. The £600 million development, delivered by Network Rail and its delivery partner Mace, has reached halfway point and stunning new features and changes are emerging while the station remains open for business as usual.

Significant progress with the programme has already been made which includes the delivery of key infrastructure improvements at Haymarket tunnel and new services on the Edinburgh Glasgow via Shotts Line. This talk will be presented by Rodger Querns, programme director for EGIP.


Network Rail, Electrification Electrifying key routes on the railway will mean faster, greener, quieter and more reliable journeys for thousands of passengers. The government is committed to investing in a programme of electrification that will help transform the railway and provide Britain with a sustainable world-class transport system. This talk will be presented by Peter Dearman, Network Rail head of Energy.


HS2 – An update and business opportunities Beth West, commercial director for HS2, will provide an update on delivering a high-speed rail network for the UK and the procurement strategy. The presentation will cover business opportunities for British companies who wish to get involved with the project.

Plant plays an essential role in all aspects of rail maintenance and construction.
