eading designer and supplier of portable lighting solutions, Nightsearcher, has appointed

Selectequip as its approved supplier to the UK rail industry, as part of its strategy for growth.

Selectequip has been an approved supplier for more than 25 years and is regarded throughout the UK rail industry as a forward-thinking company that is constantly striving to offer new solutions. The new association benefits both companies: innovation is key to Selectequip’s growth, and the company is well-placed to offer Nightsearcher’s new range of products directly to the rail market using its 13-strong sales force, based strategically throughout the UK. The main benefit of the Nightsearcher range of products lies in cost-savings.

One recent project, aimed at reducing the client’s carbon footprint, was to light a 10-mile stretch of track. Working with the client,

Nightsearcher manufactured a bespoke unit based on the client’s specifications, and a decision was taken to use Li-ion to ensure that it could be deployed quickly and easily by one person.

Selectequip also redesigned the optics to give a longer range flood, meaning fewer lights were required. Once the project was complete, it was calculated that the overall cost would be re-couped by the client within the first year and it was able to claim a carbon reduction of more than 200,000 tons of CO2. Further tests by other areas of the rail network have also been well-received. Nightsearcher has developed a new

light which Selectequip believes is set to revolutionise the industry. Featuring the most powerful LED head to date, the SOLARIS range offers a 10,000 lumen output that can be used in all models and allows users to totally replace generator power equipment. With the lightest version weighing only 5.5 kg yet featuring all the benefits associated with LED such as low heat and robust construction, the light can be carried to site by just one person.
