n 2012 the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club organised a grand total of 66 events, including four main events, the National round of the British Hill Climb which takes place at Bouley Bay every July, Two Day Moto-x at Sorel Point, the Jersey Rally and the Two Fay Trial in November.

All of the events attracted a number of UK competitors with the Moto-x also encouraging a large number of French riders. As well as competitors there are a number of spectators, so the events make a contribution to the tourism industry and take up a

number of bed nights.

The National Hill Climb round has been coming to Jersey for over 50 years and with the times around 40 second to get up the demanding hill, shows the skills of these drivers.The Jersey Rally is always over subscribed, such is its popularity, and the drivers enjoy competing around the various courses in the Island.Moto-x on the North Coast at Sorel Point attracted many top French and UK riders for the two day event including three time world champion, Mickael Pichon. There is a maximum number of 110 riders for the two day Trial in November where they compete over various terrains without trying to put their feet down. This is another event which is always over subscribed. The club is also involved in organising Sand Race competitions for cars and bikes and these are held at St Ouen, Millbrook and West Park. There are sprints at the Five Mile Road and this attracts local bike riders who may not be a member of

our club, but do hold a road licence. They compete in the ‘Run what you Brung’ class, which is proving very popular. Also on the annual programme are Autotests, Navigational Rallies, Autosolo and Special Stage Rallies, with the L’Etacq Attack in July very well supported.Going into our 93rd year, in 2013, the club has increased the number of events to 71, which hopefully will include a sprint being held between Christmas and New Year.

The club is indebted to all local authorities for granting permission to run such a big programme each year, and we are also grateful to the St John Ambulance service who perform an invaluable service.
