After 30 years experience as a building contractor, Les Vibert and his wife Jean established the company, Les having installed his first fireplace in 1965. The company is run today by their daughter Julie. She and her husband Philip Rabet, a plumbing and heating engineer, are registered solid fuel engineers, approved as members of the Heating Equipment Testing Approvals Scheme (HETAS), an organisation recognised by the States of Jersey Planning and Environment Department, which promotes safety and efficiency in the solid fuel, wood and biomass heating industry.

Many new builds are being constructed with ornamental chimneys but without a flue or working fireplace, which has resulted in new homeowners being without a focal point in their home. In these situations VLJ are regularly installing twin wall flue systems and prefabricated chimneys to bring the hearth back into the heart of the family home.
With environmental issues becoming more of a
consideration and the impact energy consumption is having on the environment, wood is regarded as the renewable and sustainable fuel for the future. Stoves run at around 80% efficiency, compared to open fires at under 20%, and VLJ’s customers can be sure that they are efficiently and effectively heating their homes whilst remaining sympathetic to environmental issues for future generations.
