to enable us to organise our events, with one of our major expenses being the Island team. Since 1997 we have attended the Island Games six times and have been in the medals on four occasions. The Island Games team consists of four players, but in September 2012 this all changed when the inaugural inter –island match was played in Guernsey. The team consisted of ten players and as a new venture with a much larger squad it required a great deal of organisation and therefore it was decided to appoint a team Captain/ Manager. The JLGA were very lucky that Mrs Juanita Adlington from La Moye agreed to take on this new role. The team performed exceedingly well in Guernsey and won, much against the odds, away from home. With this being the last event of 2012 it was fitting that such a busy year finished with such a success.

We are, however, actively seeking a sponsor for the Jersey Ladies Golf team and if any company or individual is interested please contact us!

In 2013 the JLGA will continue to work for all island lady golfers and we look forward to our events

for the year. The Island Games Golf tournament is being played at the Port Royal golf course in Bermuda and travelling and staying with all the other Jersey sports men and women will be a great experience and hopefully will produce success and medals.

We always encourage more junior girls and women to take up the game and with the success of the Ryder Cup team and the subsequent publicity, interest in golf is growing.

Therefore we must not miss this golden opportunity to attract new players at all levels. Everyone has to start somewhere and this year’s beginner could very well be our next gold medallist in the Island Games 2015.
