for 2013 including the National Special Olympic Summer Games which will be held in Bath.

On the tennis court James Brady has been setting the standards once again. At the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Gloucester, James was competing in the top level (main draw) and played some simply stunning tennis – I was so privileged to be there. James was knocked out at the quarter final stage this year but still bagged a little prize money for his troubles – written from the same cheque book as the Wimbledon winners cheque comes from! Big plans for James in 2013 so watch this space.

Staying with wheelchairs for a moment, our Jersey Wheelers wheelchair basketball team continue to play this fantastic sport every Monday at Les Quennevais Sports Hall and for the fifth year in a row the Wheelchair Basketball Challenge has been very popular with five able bodied teams entering the

footballers have had a busy year. The Club (LD St Pauls) now have a squad of over 35 men and women and they train all year around and have competed in competitions in Cheshire and Harrogate where useful experience was gained. They have also recently hosted a local competition with visiting teams from Guernsey, Fleetwood and Inter St Annes. The team, along with many other JSAD members will be taking part in the JSAD 21st Annual Disability Games – more on that later. The squad will also be competing in the Bath 2013 Games.

Fancy a dip? Our swimmers (mainly with learning disabilities) have been splashing around again this year in weekly training and a very successful Special Olympic Regional Championships where the squad of 18 all hit personal bests and medals aplenty. The squad will be in action again soon at the JSAD Games.

Another highlight of the JSAD year is our participation in the Jersey Marathon. Every year we stage our own event (the JSAD 26x1 Marathon Relay) within the framework of the main event and this picture was taken at the finish just after our mass run in – great fun!
