and office workers, but has also sparked considerable interest in the potential for further investment in this part of St Helier.


The North of Town Masterplan, approved by the States in July 2011, provides a framework within which major landowners can review the development potential of their own landholdings and assets to focus investment for regeneration. This offers the exciting prospect of new homes, new jobs and vital renewal and


investment in the buildings and public spaces that form the urban environment.


Landowners are not only being encouraged to identify individual projects but also to work with each other to assemble larger parcels of land which have the potential to provide more comprehensive development opportunities with greater benefits to the town and its residents.


Further planning guidance for five Action Areas within the North Town Masterplan area will be published to provide more detailed advice on how these areas could develop. Other areas are under consideration.


Regeneration Zones


The Island Plan identifies other parts of the town where masterplans and additional planning guidance will be produced to catalyse, encourage and promote change.


A framework for the development of the St Helier Waterfront already exists and is providing the basis on which the States of Jersey Development Company is drawing up plans to deliver new development as the economy emerges from recession.
