What the industry’s been tweeting this month…

TOY GUINNESS WORLD RECORD OF THE MONTH

Number of snowmen built in an hour

RATHER THAN having a snowfight, moan about the cold weather or grit the streets, Mattel actually did something constructive with the snowfall in Los Angeles in the run up to last Christmas. The toy company broke the world record for the number of snowmen built in an hour at its headquarters, with over 1,200 fluffy characters standing proud in total.

SUCK IT AND SEE?

A CONTROVERSIAL children’s doll which lets girls practice breastfeeding is now available in the UK. The toy is being supplied

by DNA Toys – a new firm started by Midlands-based indie toy retailers David Middleton and Alan Caswell. Speaking about how the deal came about, Middleton says: “It was Alan really. He

saw them in the newspaper and said: ‘have you seen about these new breastfeeding dolls?’ “I had a look and it was in

every major newspaper. Some people were against it, some for it. Do I think it’s dodgy? Yeah a little bit… but some people think it isn’t. Somebody was gonna do it, so why not me?”
