Mattel kicks off the year in style with a gargantuan portfolio of product that will be shown off by the toy giant at the Nuremberg toy fair.
GIRLS Mattel says Barbie will again push the boundaries in 2013 with innovative and engaging products. Barbie will continue with the brand communication of ‘Wow, see what happens when you play with Barbie’. The range includes fashion- based Barbie Colour Stylin’ Salon and Barbie Colour Hair Chalk Doll, as well as a Barbie Digital Dress, where girls can choose different design modes and built-in graphics to create cutting-edge looks. A Valentine’s Day marketing
initiative will get underway, and Barbie Life in the Deamhouse continues with season three in spring and season four in the autumn. Barbie’s new abode in spring is the Glam Vacation

House and in the autumn it’s a refreshed Dreamhouse. Barbie Swim and Race Pups and Puppy Amusement Park brings two new additions to the popular pet play. 2013 also sees the release
of three new animation feature films: Barbie in the Pink Shoes, Mariposa and the Fairy Princess, and Barbie & Her Sisters in a Pony Tale. Barbie also transforms into a beautiful Mermaid in spring and the I Can Be Ocean Treasure Explorer launches in autumn. With new web content, the spring line up for popular tween doll brand Monster High also includes a new line of dolls and accessories from the TV special Scaris City of Fright including the Monster
High Scary Café. TV supported Monster High Ghoul’s Alive brings the ghouls of Monster High to life. Later on in the year a great new entertainment title arrives with 13 Wishes, supported by a freakishly fabulous doll assortment. Polly Pocket bursts into 2013 with Polly’s Wall Party, taking play from the floor to the wall. The Disney range continues to go from strength to strength with the launch of the Princess Rapunzel Colour Change Brush Rapunzel and Disney Princess Royal Castle for spring and the re-release of The Little Mermaidin autumn. There’s also products on the way based on TV property Sofia and theatrical release Frozen.
BOYS Boys will be able to take on a new Hot Wheels challenge with Team Hot Wheels Vertical Velocity. A new addition to Wall Tracks is the Auto-Motion Speedway and then there is Ballistiks, a range of transforming daredevil ball cars. Three new track sets will also be introduced. Hot Wheels products will be backed by TV marketing.
Autumn sees the arrival of the collectable Spinshotz. Launch the Spinshotz and watch as they accelerate out of the start curve, speeding down the track. Matchbox celebrates its 60th anniversary with great new product and a new marketing campaign. There
are four new worlds for boys to discover, including Explorers, Construction, Heroic Rescue and Adventure City, brought to life with a fantastic diecast collection. Plus, there is a new range of play-sets that can be linked together, including Matchbox Adventure Links as well as the new diecast SkyBuster collection.
ENTERTAINMENT Following the release of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Mattel continues to deliver a strong portfolio of products, from the Imaginext Bat cave to the Power Attack Mission Figures and Bat Mobile. Autumn also welcomes the arrival of the Batman: Ultimate Bat Jet.
