POWER RANGERS 2013 is the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers and Bandai will be celebrating this milestone at Toy Fair with the launch of Power Rangers MegaForce – a new range of figures, vehicles and Megazords which will be released in the autumn. In a new development for
the brand, collector cards are being introduced which will be used to unlock unique phrases and sounds in the new light up Deluxe Gosei Morpher. There will be over 160 cards to collect – each MegaForce item will include a card, while the star line Morpher will come with ten cards. Fans will also be able to
scan the cards using a free mobile app, access video clips and play with them in a new action card game. Players will be encouraged to test their skills and use the cards’ power levels to combat and win their opponents’ cards. The game comes with 40 cards from MegaForce and previous Power Rangers series, plus a game mat. Meanwhile,
Power
Rangers Super Samurai will continue to be a strong focus during the first half of the year, with the release of new figure assortments, cycles, Zord vehicles and additions to the role play range.
Highlights include the Tiger
Tank, which transforms into three different modes, and the Ranger Training Set. This includes a Ranger mask, weapon, badge, belt buckles and power discs.
BEN 10 In the world of Ben 10 Omniverse, a brand new Omnitrix is in development for an autumn launch. In addition, there will be new styles in the popular Alien collection figures throughout the year to coincide with fresh episodes of the TV series on Cartoon Network. Spring will also see the
release of a collection of wind-up figures, each with a unique action feature, as well as the Omni-Kit construction kit where children can build and display their own poseable aliens from the 25+ pieces in each set.
PAC-MAN
Completing the Bandai boys’ portfolio for 2013 is the return of 1980s icon Pac-Man. Based on the new TV show, Pac-Man and the Ghostly
Adventures, the new
range will cover collectable mini figures, standard figures,
vehicles and plush. Launch is pencilled in for the summer.
TECHPET The new app-based pet dog needs to be nurtured and played with to unlock new voice and gesture commands. Launched at the end of 2012, TechPet is shaping up to be a key line to attract the app savvy generation.
HARUMIKA Harumika is taking on a dance theme in 2013, with budding fashion designers being inspired to make costumes fit for the ballroom with both the Starter Sets and top selling Designer Dress Form sets. Fabric refreshes are also being introduced into the popular Style Studio, Evening Gown set and Bridal Collection. A new brand segment called Interior Design by Harumika will also be unveiled on the stand, with girls invited to design their own dream bedroom using the style lock system.
JELLY JAMM Bandai is also venturing into the pre-school sector in 2013, with a range of toys for TV series Jelly Jamm, which is currently shown on Milkshake and Cartoonito. A collection of plush characters, collectable figures and an interactive vehicles will all feature in the line.
