Magmatic, the company behind the popular Trunki brand, has stepped in to save Inject Plastics, the UK factory which manufactures the ride-on suitcase. The deal took place just after Inject Plastics’
financiers withdrew support, placing the business into administration on 23rd November 2012. As a result, 49 jobs have been saved at the company’s Plymouth factory.
“The problems
experienced by Inject Plastics show that the financial environment in the UK remains challenging and that even with full order books, good businesses can still slip into difficulties,” said
Rob Law, Magmatic’s MD and the creator of Trunki. “We at Magmatic firmly believe in the UK manufacturing renaissance, and are already benefitting from moving our production on-shore. We are delighted to be able to bring the business of Inject Plastics into the fold of Magmatic.
“We very much look
forward to working with their existing customer base, as well as helping more British businesses manufacture on- shore with a world class manufacturing facility, renamed Magma Moulding.”
