theibcdaily MoCA 2.0 silicon is in production Entropic By Ian McMurray
Entropic Communications has announced production shipments of its MoCA 2.0
(Multimedia over Coax) silicon and software solution. Entropic says that it is the first company to deliver MoCA 2.0 production silicon, and claims that it is the highest performing coax
home networking solution available today; delivering the fastest connectivity backbone network for whole-home HD video and streaming media services – all over existing home coax cables.
Said to be ideal for pay-TV service operators who need to distribute broadband bandwidth around the home or rely on delivering IP video around the house using gateway/client architectures,
Entropic says that its MoCA 2.0 solution provides maximum throughput, enhanced reliability, critical power management features, improved security, and backwards interoperability to prior MoCA standards. Entropic’s production version has been tested to the latest draft of the MoCA certification test plan and meets all the MoCA 2.0 performance requirements. “The maturity of our MoCA 2.0 solution coupled with our first-to-market status, has allowed us to see significant market momentum and design-win traction for our MoCA 2.0 silicon solution – especially as pay-TV operators migrate to IP video delivery in the home,” said Al Servati, vice president, marketing of Connectivity Products at Entropic Communications. “The production release of our MoCA 2.0 silicon and software enables pay-TV operators to implement their next generation architectures to deliver new services to their subscribers.” 5.C21
