Hongyi Shuai: ‘Let us be your digital partner’
The launch and deployment of CI Plus standards in 2009 drastically increased operator adoption of Conditional Access Module (CAM) and accelerated CAM’s growth. The growth in developed European countries also spread to the rest of Europe
and other emerging markets, including Asian countries in recent years. In Europe, all digital television sets with an integral screen of visible diagonal greater than 30cm need at least one common interface slot. Around the world, most countries will complete analogue switch-off by 2012. The global transition from analogue to digital broadcasting presents an opportunity for CAM to work closer with operators, regulators and subscribers to strengthen content delivery security and enhance the viewing experience. At IBC2012, SMIT proudly announces the completion of CI Plus v1.3 specification upgrade for CAM. In accordance with CI Plus LLP’s licensing agreement, all new CI Plus devices registered after 01 August 2012 will have to conform to the CI Plus v1.3 specification. CI Plus v1.3 represents the next step in the evolution of CI Plus to provide an enriched feature set to support
the business models of the payTV industry while maintaining backward compatibility among products already in the market (Hosts and CAMs). The introduction of CI Plus v1.3 also aims to strengthen operators’ relationship with content providers, host manufacturers, CAM manufacturers and consumers.
The new specification adds a number of enhancements through the CAM, including enhanced operator EPG and UI branding using HD graphics, leveraging host’s IP connection supporting a true VOD on cable solution, increased operator control over content usage and new capabilities to allow CAM to tune the host to new services. In addition, SMIT is displaying the latest IP VOD CAM with video demonstration, allowing viewers to choose their favorite programmes, including HD programmes, films, sports and news channels based on
personal preference. As traditional one-way broadcast service no longer satisfies TV viewers, digital payTV operators are faced with increasing demand for VOD video streams and other features for value- added services. SMIT’s IP VOD CAM can fully protect the operators’ content security while enhancing value and viewing pleasure for subscribers. The IBC conference presents an excellent opportunity to showcase SMIT’s latest technology and products, and exchange ideas with industry players on providing value to network operators and improving digital payTV viewers’ overall experience.
At IBC2012, SMIT would like to invite all conference attendees to visit us in Hall 1 to experience our latest products and solutions. Let us be your partner through your digitalisation journey! 1F86
