Monday 10.09.2012 Connecting the consumer In Brief
Given the huge popular uptake of tablets like the iPad and the increasingly availability of connected televisions, we are close to the ideal of consumers watching content on the device they want, at the time they want, in the place they want. That is the underlying message behind one of the panel debates in the IBC Connected World today, Redefining the connected content experience. It starts at 12:00.
Also in this morning’s
programme is a presentation on using powerline communications to bring media to any room in the

Triple play security challenges addressed
Novel-SuperTV By Ian McMurray
With the rapid
development of triple play, says exhibitor Novel- SuperTV, security in the hybrid network environment is becoming more diverse – creating product integration and deployment issues for operators. The challenge is to make the solution much more cost-effective, authorising a single user
with multiple terminals, says the company. Novel-SuperTV’s
response to the challenge is its DRM Uniform Platform, which integrates CAS (DVB- C / S / T, Mobile), DRM (OTT, IPTV) and other products. The company’s uniform platform system deploys all security products via “plug-in” module characters. Based on the same operating system (SUSE Linux), database software, peripheral interface (BOSS
interface, NMS interface, CMS interface, SMS interfaces and so on) the underlying module (security management,
communication modules etc.) and other Novel- SuperTV self-developed product modules; system management becomes flexible. Existing utility modules - such as interfaces, database, and deployment of business modules – can be reused to reduce cost. 4.B51
on the MasterBus Now that its generators are able to fully communicate with the MasterBus system from Mastervolt, the Dutch supplier of power electronics and systems, Fischer Panda says that it can offer its own and Mastervolt customers full flexibility and easy operation as well as a wide range of different generators to choose from which they can easily integrate into their Mastervolt power systems. To back up this new service, Fischer Panda’s communication with MasterBus is also covered by a five year warranty. 5.C35
NovelSat speeds up Making its European debut, the NS-3000 Satellite Modem achieves data rates of up to 716Mbps. The NS-3000 incorporates NovelSat’s NS3 satellite transmission modulation technology, which increases satellite bandwidth by 20% to 50% over current DVB-S2 and DVB-S standards. The NS-3000 modem enables VoIP providers and ISPs to increase available bandwidth and reduce costs for satellite video transmission. It also allows outside broadcast trucks to send and receive data and reports while simultaneously transmitting live video streams to their production centre. 14.C20
