hether constructing with panelised methods, timber frame and structural insulated panels (SIPS), volumetric construction techniques, cross-laminated (x-lam) and glue-laminated (glu-lam) technology or hybrid applications, Aptus Fastener Systems has a solution in its range. Its comprehensive range of products and services ranges from everyday fixings
and specialist insulation and cladding screws to high specification structural fasteners, developed with modern sustainable building technologies in mind. Aptus managing director, Stewart Taylor, says: “We have recognised that as
new construction methods emerge our range of fasteners must keep pace, so that we can support our distributors in presenting the most effective solution. In order to do so we have developed a specialist range of ETA approved innovative fasteners from market leading manufacturers across Europe.” Aptus Fastener Systems stocks and distributes a broad range of industrial
fasteners and associated components to meet the structural design parameters for timber buildings under Eurocode 5. “We supply our product range with an extraordinary level of service,” says Stewart,
“as well as providing a high level of technical support to ensure the right fastening solution is specified in the required application, using the correct equipment.” Aptus technical support extends to installation guides, thread geometry, fastener surface finishes and
joint design guidance. Working with its supply partners Aptus Fastener Systems’ research and engineering capabilities encompass specific engineering disciplines, supporting its network of distributors in meeting an extensive range of customer applications. Aptus Fastener Systems will be on Stand B7 at Timber Expo 2012, 25th

Hilti launches ‘no cleaning required’ anchor system
Hilti has announced the launch of what it describes as “a revolutionary chemical anchor system - HIT-HY 200.” When used together with Hilti HIT-Z anchor rods, the company says this new system allows contractors to make structural fastenings in concrete without the need to clean the anchor holes.

as a torque-controlled bonded anchor. Hilti says in its brochure for engineers: “This means that because of their shape, HIT-Z anchor rods are unsusceptible to uncleaned holes in dry or water-saturated concrete.” Cleaning the holes after drilling is seen by contractors around
the world as a tedious, time-consuming part of the chemical anchor installation process, requiring use of inconvenient tools and equipment such as steel brushes, compressed air or manual pumps. However, up to now, good hole cleaning has been essential for reliable anchor performance and, accordingly, this step in the

installation process has long been a major concern of chemical anchor users everywhere. Elimination of the need for anchor hole cleaning therefore not only saves time and labour costs, it also helps ensure reliable fastenings. Contractors and engineers who design anchor points, says Hilti, will thus have much greater peace of mind because the anchors installed on the jobsite will be as safe and robust as they were designed to be in their plans and blueprints. Hilti points out that an additional benefit of this revolutionary
no-hole-cleaning anchor system concerns health, safety and environmental aspects, which have been growing tremendously in importance over the last decade. As the HIT-HY 200/HIT-Z anchor rod system has eliminated the cleaning operation, and thus the need to blow dust out of the hole, environmental pollution in the form of airborne dust is greatly reduced. This new system therefore virtually eliminates a source of breathable dust that construction workers may otherwise be exposed to every day.

The show expects to receive 4,000 visitors including architects, specifiers, engineers and contractors plus central government departments and local authorities.
