Trollius (Globeflower) These showy, early-season perennials are ideal for moist or even wet, boggy areas. Their bowl-shaped waxy blooms have no petals, but instead have petal-like sepals. Dark green foliage is deeply divided. Long- lived plants form clumps from slow-creeping roots. Plant in moist, humus-rich soil.

Verbascum (Mullein) Ideally suited for the flower border or cot- tage garden, these plants feature spires of flowers that open from the bottom of the spike, providing bloom for weeks. Felted, gray-green foliage forms a large rosette at the base. Plant in lean, somewhat sandy, well-drained soil.
