Zones 3-9–A butterfl y magnet! The fragrant nectar of this carefree, drought tolerant peren- nial attracts scores of butterfl ies. Clusters of star-shaped fl owers are produced from early July through August followed by milkweed- type seed pods that are great for dried ar- rangements. Umbrella-shaped plants tolerate poor, sandy soils. Height varies from 18 to 36 inches. They’re slow to start in spring, so mark their location well. ❍
