RUBRA PLENA The Memorial Day Peony


13471–RUBRA PLENA–The traditional Memo- rial Day Peony. This resilient heirloom peony was carried by many pioneers in their covered wagons, surviving even today on old farm properties. It was used to decorate Civil War graves; thus, it became known as the Memorial Day peony. The cardinal- red double fl owers are comprised of little rosettes of frilly petals, the color deepening to purplish-red with age. Early blooming, compact, 18 to 28 inch plants.
