Hardy Fall Asters


Zones 4-9–A carpet of color in late summer. Fall as- ters rival chrysanthemums for bringing brilliant color to fl ower borders in late summer and fall. Sprays of one inch blooms thickly cover the mounded plants. Easily grown in any fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Height is 12 to 15 inches except where noted. ❍ ◗

Feathery Astilbe


Zones 4-8–The most colorful perennials for shade. These easy-care plants display colorful masses of feathery fl ower spikes for weeks in midsummer. Their attractive ferny foliage ranges from blue-green to bronze-green tones. Plant in soil that is rich, moist and well-drained. Also called False Spirea or Feather Flowers. Bareroot 3 to 5 eye divisions. ◗ ●

Astello Indigo Agastache


(A. x ‘Astello Indigo’)–Zones 6-9–Use this trendy, versatile perennial in pots as well as garden beds. Flower spikes create a sea of blue. This 2012 award-winning Humming- bird Mint can easily be grown as an annual as it fl owers fi rst year from seed, just 15 to 20 weeks after sowing. From midsummer into fall the strong, bushy, 20 inch tall plants are topped with indigo-blue, minty-scented fl ower spikes that are irresistible to bees and butterfl ies. The long-lasting fl owers are excellent cut fl owers, and can be dried for fragrant potpourri. Toler- ates heat and drought, deer and rabbits leave it alone. Plant in average, well-drained soil. ❍

TWILITE Twilite Prairieblues™ Baptisia


10723–(B. x variicolor ‘Twilite’)–Zones 4-9–(P.P.19011)–Col- orful accents for the late spring garden. In May and June purple buds open to form violet-purple fl orets accented with lemon-yellow keels. Lupine-like fl ower spikes are up to 30 inches long and make elegant cutfl owers. Mature clumps often produce up to 100 fl owering stems. Giant Bleeding Heart
