WATERMELONS
Watermelons should be planted out after danger of frost is past. Soil temperatures below 60°F inhibits germination. Plant in hills or mounds of organically enriched soil. Space hills 4 to 6 feet apart. Use Hot Kaps or other plant protection the fi rst few weeks. In short season areas start seed indoors in peat pots or Extra Depth Jiffy® 7 Plant Starters. Do not move the vines when cultivating.
