(Digitalis purpurea)–Zones 4-9–Beautiful spikes carry upfacing bells. Unlike other foxgloves, the tubular bells lining the fl ower spikes look right at you so you can view their interesting speckled interior. Hummingbirds love them! Strong-stemmed, 36 to 48 inch tall plants bloom in June and July. Cut back after fl owering, but leave a few spikes to reseed. Biennial. ◗
