Nordson ASYMTEK Introduces Jet Fluid Dispensing System
Carlsbad, CA — Nordson ASYMTEK is introducing jet dispensing for man- ufacturing side-view LEDs. The sys- tem jets 0.1 to 0.2mm dots through windows as small as 0.4mm into the LED cavities of side-view LEDs that illuminate the displays in devices such as tablet computers, smart phones, and e-readers. The new Spectrum™ S-920N
jetting system automatically main- tains a consistent shot weight with
software-managed dispense parame- ters. Closed-loop dispensing elimi- nates the need for time-consuming operator adjustment. Unlike other multi-headed needle dispensing sys- tems, the new system is easier to set up and maintain in production, keep- ing process under machine control. According to the company, con-
sistent dispensing weight improves process capability while ensuring higher UPH (units per hour). Using
CPJ+ (calibrated process jetting plus), the process variability is reduced for tight LED color quality. This patented, technologically ad - vanced software and hardware con- trol reduces process variation, in - creases yield, and reduces cost. The system uses a jet for non-
contact dispensing. Unlike a needle, the jet retracts much less for silicone break off and therefore shoots multi- ple shots faster, increasing speed and

NorthStar Intros the Ultimate X-ray System
Rogers, MN — North Star Imaging (NSI) has recently delivered the X5000C X-ray system — a semi-cus- tom system built specifically for the needs of electronics inspection. The system is based on the company’s X5000 cabinet and has many of the same proven components. The com- pany then tapped into its experience with custom systems to fit the X5000C with features most appreci- ated by electronics manufacturers. The X5000C has a custom-built
C-arm manipulator allowing for standard horizontal inspection as well as oblique inspection. The hori- zontal mode is suitable for 3D Computed Tomography scanning as well as many other fixtured inspec- tion techniques. In addition, after a quick swap of the inspection stage, a single mouse click converts the sys- tem to a full-featured vertical x-ray inspection system. The vertical mode is suitable for
high resolution 2D Digital Radio - graphy scanning, free-state non-fix- tured inspection, high geometric mag- nification, as well as the inspection of multiple objects at once. According to the company, the
new configuration is one of the most versatile X-ray/CT systems ever built and although it was designed prima- rily for electronics, there are many other markets where it will be equal- ly suitable. Contact: North Star Imaging,
