Page 81 Smart Sonic: 100% Closed-loop Stencil Cleaners
Canoga Park, CA — Smart Sonic is introducing the EnviroGuard™ 100 percent Closed-loop Stencil Cleaner — reportedly the first and only aque- ous stencil cleaner able to clean all types of solder paste with a 100 per- cent closed-loop process: wash and rinse. The company matched the spe- cial properties of its 440-R® SMT Detergent to a specifically designed filtration/UV system that facilitates 100 percent closed-looping and zero VOCs of both the wash and rinse solutions. The liquid hazardous waste
never exits the system; 99 percent of the waste solder paste from stencils and misprinted PCBs is captured for easy recycling. The remaining 1 per- cent is removed by the EnviroGuard filtration system for a completely contained and environmentally be - nign cleaning process. Users simply return the spent filters to Smart Sonic for regeneration and reuse. Like a wastewater evaporator, the EnviroGuard filtration system is zero discharge — but at a fraction of the cost. There are no venting requirements, maintenance is much easier, and all water is reused instead of being released to atmos- phere as vapor. The 100 percent

closed-loop filtration system is avail- able on all of the company’s stencil cleaners and will eliminate the need for a wastewater evaporator. Prior to the advent of this sys-
tem, aqueous stencil cleaning sys- tems, claiming to be closed-loop, could only clean water washable sol- der pastes or only recycle the rinse water. The chemical additives neces- sary to clean no-clean, RMA and other non-water-washable solder pastes required periodic changing due to chemical exhaustion or pre- mature filter loading. This resulted in large amounts of liquid hazardous waste disposal. The EnviroGuard eliminates liquid hazardous waste disposal while significantly reducing
chemical consumption. In 1990, Smart Sonic intro-
duced the original ultrasonic stencil cleaner and the first stencil cleaner to be verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for specific parameters of envi- ronmental safety, user safety and cleaning efficiency. Smart Sonic is continuing on this mission to provide the best stencil-cleaning process with zero environmental impact. Contact: Smart Sonic Corp.,

Laser Marker Sanford, NC — CTI Systems, the Advanced Automation Division of Conveyor Technologies Inc., has introduced the new MR2 router. The MR2 is loaded with extra features and options that make this machine number one for PCB routing. Stan dard features include fidu-
cial camera, combination vacuum system with zero debris, precision ground gantry movement system, easy load/unload, the company’s Easy Teach Software with off-line programming capability with 10 minute new program teach. All of the company’s routers are
custom tooled to interface with each customer’s preferred supplier for fix- tures. The company can also provide a soft tooled fixture with each system. Routers range in product capac-
ity from a 14 x 14, 18 X 20, 24 X 24 and 24 X 48-in. (355 x 355, 457 x 508, 609 x 609 and 609 x 1219mm). Custom requirements for PCB Routing are a specialty for the CTI engineering Team. Also being shown is the compa-
ny’s new MS2 Laser Marking Sys - tem. The MS2 has a precision ground split axis gantry movement system designed for improved cycle times. The marking system includes CTI Vision and fiducial camera which is capable of fiducial recognition as well as 1D, 2D and QR code verification. Also new is the CV Automatic Component Verification machine, designed to be an in-line “golden board” comparison system. It has a precision ground split axis gantry movement system for high-accuracy inspection. Contact: CTI Systems division,
