The West Midlands South Warwickshire is Open for Business
Regeneration of Spencer Yard, Creative Quarter, Leamington Spa ( CGI )
At the heart of the West Midlands Engine, the 488sq miles of attractive South Warwickshire countryside is home to highly-skilled, entrepreneurial, innovative and creative people and businesses and provides the ideal incubator for new ideas to flourish and grow.
Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick district councils are working together to support, enable and facilitate low carbon economic growth across South Warwickshire, growing existing sectors and launching new industries to capitalise on our shared economic assets, including the leading world class institutions of the University of Warwick and Coventry University.
Approximately 49% of the working age population is qualified to NVQ4 or above (compared 38.9% regionally); business survival rates for new businesses are relatively high at 51% (compared to 43% in England) and South Warwickshire contributes £10.2 billion GVA to the regional and national economies, growing faster than the average in England over the past 10 years.
Being open for business means supporting businesses to grow (e.g., scale- up) and identifying core opportunity sectors such as:
• Automotive – South Warwickshire is home to Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin Lagonda, Lotus and Rimac
• Electric Vehicle (EV) Batteries - South Warwickshire is home to the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre and the site for the proposed Coventry Warwickshire Gigafactory

• Bioscience and Agri-tech - Seeking to develop biological and technological solutions that sustain, restore, and improve the quality of life for humans, plants, and animals in our world, including innovations in agriculture to increase its yield, efficiency, and profitability.
• Digital Creative – Leamington ‘silicon’ Spa is the home of the UK video games industry, employing 10% of the UK games development workforce

By creating the right ecosystem, the councils intend not only for these sectors to thrive but for new technologies and relationships to grow through the cross-fertilisation of ideas and create a truly low-carbon economy.
