Maidstone Borough Council’s latest flagship investment is the construction of Maidstone Innovation Centre.


Based at the Kent Medical Campus located off Junction 7 of the M20, the £14.5m joint investment by Maidstone Borough Council and the European Regional Development Fund has created the Maidstone Innovation Centre. The Innovation Centre offers 30,000 sq ft of space dedicated to supporting the growth of the MedTech & life- science sector. The centre is expected to support over 270 jobs and create £120m of GVA over the first 10 years. Opened in December 2021,the centre is receiving strong interest and is at 55% occupancy ahead of projected occupancy levels.

Clear Bell Property Partners £5m acquisition of a 33 – acre greenfield development site off junction 8 of the M20 in 2019 is now near completion and is


receiving strong interest


from the market. The site is designed to be a new business destination for Kent, LOC8 is Maidstone’s premier commercial park, providing industrial spaces from 5,4365 – 36,404 sq ft, logistics space 40,289 – 106,240 sq ft and office spaces 11,840 – 17,179 sq ft.


Signed up occupiers include, Swiss based


Zehnder Group, who have confirmed taking on a 45,275 sq ft unit in their move to the site.


Va Qtec is a dynamic high-tech company that has been pioneering in the development of innovative solutions in the insulation industry since 2001. They have also confirmed they will be relocating to a 40,293 sq ft unit at LOC8.

Appointed as one of eight national skills trail blazers, MidKent and North Kent College secured £5.6m of Government funding in 2021 to develop a new ‘Net Zero Skills Factory’ offering both practical and theoretical skills in green construction and technologies Located at the College’s Maidstone Campus the factory opened in March 2023.
