19 New warehouses for Cumbria’s only Enterprise Zone The North West
T
he latest multi-million pound development, supported by ERDF funding began at Kingmoor Park in May this year when estate owner Brian Scowcroft cut the first sod for the construction of 19 new warehouses designed to accommodate SMEs and growing businesses.
The new build units at Cumbria’s only Enterprise Zone will provide occupiers with the ultimate in flexibility as they can be fittted out to create bespoke offices, or creative studio space, enhanced staff facilities or even the installation of mezzanine floors or racking systems. The choice is entirely down to the end user.
The only limitation is imagination. It’s not just flexibility that new occupiers can expect there are also the benefits that Kingmoor Park can provide as a location as Richard Percival, Director of commercial property consultants Carigiet Cowen, the agents dealing with the marketing of the N&R scheme, explains:
“The construction of the N&R Units at KP Central is moving forward at pace with steel work out of the ground and roofs on allowing potential occupiers to see first-hand that the scheme is no longer merely an idea on an architect's drawing.
At present we are talking to a range of end users potentially interested in taking space in the scheme. We are in discussions with occupiers who are looking to take a single unit of 1,550 sqft within Block R through to those considering multiple units within Block N. At this stage we are able to accommodate a wide variety of occupational requirements and within reason provide tailor- made solutions.”
As interest continues for the new units, work has also begun on Kingmoor Park’s North site where a new access road is being built to open up over 11 acres of development land. A total of three

companies are poised to start their own developments on this part of the site including DSD Construction who plan to relocate their headquarters to the site.
Once completed these new developments are expected to create upwards of fifty new job opportunities within Cumbria’s only Enterprise Zone.
Commenting on the future Neil McIntyre, Director, Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd, said:
“Kingmoor Park is continually evolving. To maximise the potential of a land asset of this size we have to have a comprehensive masterplan in place that looks well into the future and is continually reviewed so that it can evolve as circumstances and events change. Ultimately, it is essential that we retain an element of flexibility to look after our tenants needs as their businesses grow and need more space.
So far, our 10 year masterplan is working well and we are well on target to create upwards of a 1000 jobs in the next 5 years taking our total up to 3000 with another 1000 over the remaining 5 years”.
