Rossendale Lancashire T

he Spinning Point development in Rawtenstall, Rossendale, is an exciting project at the heart of the town centre.

The innovative first phase of the project consisting of offices and a new bus station has already started on site with a further mixed retail, leisure, office and residential development planned. Rawtenstall is really growing and there is now a real buzz about town.

Spinning Point will complement the existing independent shops along Bank Street and the traditional market.

There can be no doubt that the Lancaster district is booming

T

he recent announcement by the Eden Project that they are looking to build an attraction in Morecambe, reimagining a 21st century seaside resort, has the potential to be a real game-changer for Morecambe and the wider district. It will complement and boost our own regeneration plans to develop employment sites alongside the Bay Gateway.

In Lancaster, ambitious plans for the 16-acre Canal Quarter site are coming forward, to create a diverse mix of uses, including the arts, residential and commercial space to respond to growing business demands.

To support this we’re developing a growth strategy with stakeholders and partners to outline what we think a prosperous and thriving economy looks like and what we need in place to make our ambitions a reality. To attract businesses we have recently launched a brand new Lancaster District Property Register listing all the commercial premises and land currently available in the district.

We are keen to ensure we identify the right places for investment and growth, and then work to provide the right level of support to make those investments a success.

Our focus is not just on physical changes however, and our work with local partners allows us to collectively add to the strength and vibrancy of our district. Whether that’s supporting North Lancs Expo, through festivals like Vintage by the Sea or working with growth sectors such as Digital Lancaster. Lancaster University has started building its £41M Health Innovation Campus tackling the biggest challenges in healthcare today.

We will achieve our greatest success by working collaboratively with partners whose passion for the district matches our own, and we want to encourage others to be part of the exciting future we are mapping out for Lancaster and the surrounding areas
