Frontier Park open for business


ince being announced as the most enterprising town in Britain Burnley has continued to drive the East Lancashire property market forward reports Mike Cavanagh at Trevor Dawson.


Burnley Bridge Business Park which is Burnley’s landmark inward Investment opportunity is now fully developed with 735,000 sq.ft. already occupied and the next phase Titanium Park offers further opportunities which will accommodate nearly 135,000 sq.ft.


The future looks even more positive with the news that Burnley Bridge South, which forms part of the employment gateway at Junction 9 of the M65, now being allocated within Burnley’s new local plan and will potentially bring a further 1,300 new jobs to the town.


Burnley Bridge South fronts the A679 Accrington Road off Junction 9 and is adjacent to Network 65 Business Park. When complete Burnley Bridge South will potentially bring forward a further 600,000 sq.ft. of logistics and manufacturing space.


This complements other positive news for the town. Barnfield Construction have recently commenced 20,000 sq.ft. of speculative accommodation to complete Empire Business Park. Already half the scheme has been placed under offer off plan with strong interest in the remaining accommodation.


Elsewhere Trebor Developments in partnership with Burnley Borough Council have completed the first phase of Vision Par,k a high specification development of units for start up businesses.

His appointment coincides with their recent Blackburn head office move to Capricorn Park, off Junction 6 of the M65, and their impending 30th Anniversary


in 2019. Ian will be based at the Blackburn headquarters but will work across all three offices - Blackburn, Burnley and Bolton.


Ian is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and Chartered Association of Building Engineers (FCABE). Ian qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1992 and has worked at DTZ Debenham Thorpe, Turner & Townsend, EC Harris and Colliers CRE (now Colliers International) and latterly he has run his own successful building consultancy practice.

Blackburn’s Two Cathedral Square

aple Grove Developments, working in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council and Blackburn Cathedral, has announced the submission of a detailed planning application for the second phase of Cathedral Quarter in Blackburn, Lancashire. Cathedral Square is being developed under the development agreement MGD has with the Council, Blackburn Cathedral and Homes England (2013). Designed by BDP Architects, the plans would see the development of a striking six storey building comprising 30,500 sq ft net of Grade ‘A’ office accommodation with 5,000 sq ft retail / restaurant space on the ground floor.


The announcement follows on from the completion of One Cathedral Square, which brought 35,000 sq ft of office accommodation to the market in early 2016 and is now home to high profile organisations including Cummings Mellor, GovNet Communications, Capita and Northern Rail. Knight Frank and Trevor Dawson have been retained as joint letting agents for the scheme.
