the North West WSP confirmed at No8 First Street


WSP has confirmed that it will be moving to No8 First Street later this year.


The leading engineering and professional services firm is taking 55,000 sq ft across the first and second floors of the building which is due to complete in September. The move to No8 will see WSP merge its four existing Manchester offices into a single location, bringing up to 850 staff to First Street.


WSP will benefit from two of No8’s winter garden spaces on the first floor which provide double height breakout space for occupiers to use. They will join Gazprom which signed as a pre-let occupier early in the construction process taking c40,000 sq ft of space across floors 5 and 6. Following a fit out programme Gazprom has now taken occupation of its new offices.


Occupier interest in the remaining office space remains high and several of the retail and leisure units on the ground floor are also under offer. Chris Cheap, Regional Senior Director at GVA who both advised on the letting and manages the scheme on behalf of GMPVF, added: “WSP is a great signing at No8 and they will shortly be commencing their fit out with a view to being operational by the end of the year.”


Ask Real Estate is managing the development of No8 on behalf of GMPVF and PATRIZIA UK. GVA, Savills and Metis are joint agents and Cushman and Wakefield advised WSP. No8 is designed by Fletcher Priest Architects and construction is being managed by Rayner Rowen.


Stockport’s iconic Pyramid, is being marketed for sale

ushman & Wakefield has been retained by the Co-operative Bank to sell the landmark asset. The building was formerly home to the Co-operative Bank but following a decision to relocate to other sites, it became surplus to current requirements.


The Bank had occupied the building in its entirety since 1995. The Pyramid comprises 86,000 sq ft of office accommodation arranged over five floors with 426 onsite car parking spaces. The entire site comprises 4.5 acres and occupies a high- profile location immediately off Junction 1 of the M60 motorway.

FW: Scanlans posts 16pc rise in annual revenues to £4.4m

roperty management and surveying group Scanlans has posted a 16 per cent rise in annual revenues.


Turnover in the year to March 31 increased to £4.4m from £3.8m, with growth across all of Scanlans’ operations. Its property management division saw a 10 per cent rise in revenues, fuelled by a host of new instructions for apartment block


schemes in Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham, and growth for the Scanlans Facilities Management operation.


Key appointments in Scanlans’ building surveying and rating teams helped drive a six per cent rise in income for the firm’s surveying arm. The latest figure includes the turnover of Manchester-based property sales, lettings and management agency Pad Residential, which became part of the Scanlans group of companies in early 2017.


Scanlans chairman Ian Stanistreet said: “We are pleased with our performance in our latest financial year and we are well-placed to see further growth this year. Key recruits in Manchester and Birmingham have enabled us to offer our surveying, valuation and rating services to a wider client base with great success“.


Scanlans is a national practice with seven partners and 64 staff across its offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and London.


Sweco Relocates to Abbey House S


wedish engineering consultancy Sweco has opened a new Manchester office


after taking 5,582 square feet at Abbey House on Booth Street.


Sweco has agreed a 5-year lease for the fourth floor of the property to provide a city centre base for its 40 strong team. Sweco has consolidated two offices as part of the move, with the majority relocating from their previous base at Manchester Airport.


The transaction was secured by Avison Young on behalf of Booth Street Property Company. Quoting rents at the building are £24.50 per square foot.


Positioned on the corner of Booth Street and Mosley Street, Abbey House has recently undergone a full refurbishment to include new full height windows, newly refurbished reception area to include touchdown meeting rooms, and a new shower facility in the basement. Existing occupiers include Gleeds, Chubb Insurance and Mathys and Squire.

office space, Abbey House has been completely repositioned to provide Grade A office space with exceptional facilities.
