The MediTech Centre Regenerating Health and Enterprise in the East Midlands
Rutland County Council is spearheading a transformative regen- eration project with national significance: the MediTech Centre at Oakham Enterprise Park. Backed by a £3. 77 million UK government grant, this pioneering initiative will position Rutland as a hub for healthcare innovation and enterprise.
The MediTech Centre is designed to integrate clinical service delivery with commercial innovation. The ground floor will host essential NHS and non-NHS health services, while the upper floor will offer flexible, high-spec space for healthcare startups, R&D ventures, and allied health providers. This unique co-location model aims to drive both health equity and economic growth.
Developed to HTM healthcare standards, the Centre will feature advanced diagnostics, surgical theatres, and recovery suites. Modular, tech-enabled enterprise spaces will support next-generation health- care delivery and research. Sustainability is central to the design, with EV charging, mobile diagnostics, and low-carbon strategies embed- ded from the outset.
The MediTech Centre reflects a strategic vision to attract high-value employers, retain skilled professionals, and enhance regional health resilience. Located at Oakham Enterprise Park, the Centre benefits from scalable infrastructure and growing investor interest.
As the only project of its kind in the East Midlands led by a rural uni- tary authority, the MediTech Centre is redefining what regeneration

can look like outside major cities. It exemplifies place-based invest- ment where health, innovation, and opportunity converge.
By 2027, the Centre will open its doors to clinicians, entrepreneurs, and patients—becoming a flagship for integrated development and a catalyst for regional transformation.
