BETTER CHANGE STATESIDE
followed suit with their own designated focus on this important topic. The presentations and discussions held at these events have helped as to advance the collective industry knowledge around safer gambling and has without doubt influenced policy and regulation of gambling around the world. As the industry (and indeed the world) evolves, so has the CPZ. The advancement of tech-based solutions such as the implementation of AI in tracking players behaviour has been seismic. The addition of environmental, social governance (ESG) topics as well as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) are so important for our industry’s future, and it’s great to see that the CPZ now focuses on the wider sustainability of the industry as well as the protection of its consumers. It is a wonderful initiative, and we wish it every success ahead of the move to Barcelona. Better Change’s first appearance at ICE came in April of 2022
when the show was moved as a result of the pandemic. Having secured a stand through the events “Pitch ICE” initiative, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Dave Richardson, speaks about his ICE experience. “As someone who was only a few short months into working in the gambling industry, it was daunting and safe to say well outside of my comfort zone to find myself speaking at the world’s largest gambling trade show! It is safe to say that the experience turned out to be a huge catalyst not just for Better Change but also for my own personal development and education of a sector I knew little about. The people I have met at ICE over the last couple of years have been incredibly
Rob Mabbett
supportive and generous with their insights. I would encourage anyone, especially those starting out in the industry, to put themselves out there; at shows such as ICE you will find nothing but encouragement from your peers. Being bold and not being afraid of failure has been a real theme for Better Change at ICE as well as other trade shows where we continue to promote innovative ways to prevent gambling harm”. London certainly signed off in style this year, with over
40,000 people attending and we had a great show. We are extremely grateful to the event organisers who in the past few years have supported our organisation and our growth and we wish you all the best for Barcelona. We also look forward to meeting you all out and about at events in 2024.
