Manssur habló sobre los recientes avances en la regulación del sector de las apuestas en el Brasil, destacando la promulgación de la Ley N° 14.790/2023, a fines del año pasado, que promovió la regulación efectiva de las “bets” y los juegos de azar online, expresando con énfasis: “En el ICE Londres 2024, Brasil tiene una ley de apuestas y está trabajando en la regulación de esta legislación”. ust as Peru begins its authorization process for online gambling and sports betting operators, Mincetur issued a Resolution removing the DGJCMT chief. A few days later Yuri Guerra was appointed as replacement in Direccion General de Juegos de Casino y Maquinas Tragamonedas.
It is important to note the comment of the president and CEO of
GLI, James Maida: “We can only hope that Peru becomes, once again, a regulatory model for the region and the world,” in the face of the appointment of Guerra, a professional with vast experience in the Peruvian regulatory body, at an urgent time when online gaming and sports betting operations begin to comply with new regulations, as indicated below in a separate note. Also, it is worth adding that the laboratories, Asensi Technologies, eCOGRA, and GLI, have already received official authorization from Peru’s Mincetur for testing work on new iGaming and betting products. On the Eastern side of the region, changes are also taking place in Brazil, with the departure of the special advisor to the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, José Francisco Manssur, who had made a great presentation in early February at the ICE VOX congress, promoted by the ICE London World Regulatory Briefing (WRB) 2024, as a speaker on the panel “Order and Progress - analysing the new regulatory environment for gambling in Brazil.”
