s we welcome a new year with the hopes of looking onward and upward, we also mark the dawning of a brand-new chapter for ToyNews with the addition of myself, at the helm of the print magazine, and Tessa Clayton delivering the latest agenda-setting and

conversation-leading news and features on the digital side. Together we have worked to develop the ToyNews platform to bring you a modern, cutting- edge and innovative approach to digital offerings in the toy industry. Don’t worry, you’ll be glad to learn our approach is less avant-garde and more related to refining the brilliant foundations of this long-standing title. Keep an eye out for developments to our websites https://www.toynews-online.biz and https://www.licensing.biz and for a revamp on our social media channels in the future, too. But, I am glad to say, print media is still very much an integral part of our representation, and we have made the informed decision to compile three informative, content-packed print editions which are closely aligned with the most prominent shows and events in the toy and games industry. This January-February issue, the debut edition of a fresh team at ToyNews, highlights the all-important upcoming events in the toy sector - Toy Fair London, Spielwarenmesse, Spring Fair and Toy Fair New York. Here, we delve deeper into what can be expected at the shows and give you an exclusive sneak peek at what trends and new products will be showcased in the coming months. Find our events coverage from page 47. Coming from different commercial and consumer backgrounds, Tessa and I

have been blown away by how welcoming, positive and forward-thinking toy professionals are. In the face of global supply chain issues, changing consumer behaviour, the balance of online and in-store offerings, the toy and games industry remains resilient and constantly evolving. One of the key trends we have noticed is the greater move toward sustainability, where new products and advanced technologies are paving the way for a more eco-friendly future. In this issue we speak to Wastebuster, a company dedicated to educating children about the environment, providing resources for schools and implementing a refined recycling system to ensure responsible consumption. Now, that’s what I call a positive solution!

I hope you enjoy our bountiful edition of ToyNews, and we look forward to meeting you all at the first of 2022 events, at Toy Fair London!
