Lawson and Son Timber Merchant was established in 1921 in North London, becoming Lawsons Whetstone Ltd in 1931. In February 2020 Lawsons Holdings Limited acquired AVS Fencing Supplies Limited, forming a platform for future expansion in the fencing and landscaping market for Lawsons.


In February 2021, it acquired Hertfordshire Timber and Building Supplies Ltd and Southill Sawmills Ltd, bringing a further 45 employees and a turnover of £10m.

Kellaway Building Supplies Ltd was established in 1982 with the opening of a single store located on Kellaway Avenue. It has grown steadily since then and now has 16 branches from Marlborough and Wincanton, to Nailsea, Swndon and Worcester, as well as all round its Bristol heartland. It is now the largest, family run, independent builders’ merchant in its home city of Bristol. In 2016, it expanded with the purchase of Bridgwater based company Western Timber and Building Supplies Ltd, acquired the Head Office premises. and also purchased Premier Timber and Building Supplies Ltd in Worcester.
