ADVERTORIAL

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW JAMES LATHAM?

It’s a question they recently asked their customers and were rather surprised by the response. I

t’s fair to say James Latham, with their striking purple and green livery, is probably among the most recognised names in the

construction sector. Founded in 1757, and with a number of industry firsts under their belt, it would be easy to assume that people know all there is to know about their business. But their research showed whilst many people know the company name or branding, there’s much less awareness of the full breadth of the product range and what Lathams can do for the Builder’s Merchants sector.

Make no mistake, the perception

that they supply the highest quality hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, MDF and chipboard is correct, and they do that well. However, what sets them apart are the less obvious - but no less sought-after - specialist products sitting on their shelves. Take Accoya for example. A sustainable, naturally treated softwood with a warranty of 50 years externally, and the same durability class as aged Oak or Plantation teak – perfect for joinery, fascias and soffits, outdoor buildings, cladding, decking, the list goes on. Or WoodEx, a knot-free engineered timber that doesn’t bend, warp or cup, maximising yield and getting the job done quicker.

Their panel products are just as

unique; from Valchromat, the ‘through- colour’ high density fibreboard that acts like moisture resistant MDF (available in a range of eleven colours) through to the Garnica poplar plywood range, with variants offering true Euroclass B Fire performance, 15 year external warranties and astonishing ultra-light weight options that (like for like) weigh less than a smartphone!

And it’s not just their products

that make them different. Services like the ‘direct from port’ bulk timber delivery service provided by their LDT (Latham Direct Timber) division, eliminating Brexit related delays and red tape, and Dresser Mouldings, their timber machining business, offering specialist architectural mouldings, stair components, claddings, profiles and carvings - off the shelf or made to order from a specific pattern - all boost their service offer to the merchant sector.

So, now you know them a little DRESSER MOULDINGS

better. There’s so much more to tell, but only so much room on a page.
