stayed with us right from the start and there is no way we would be where we are today without their support. 30 years ago we set out with four staff in Gaerwen on Anglesey and a clear vision ‘to put the customer at the heart of everything we do’ and that vision and ethos hasn’t changed now that we employ over 1600 people all over England and Wales.” John Llewelyn Jones, Founder and Chairman of the Huws Gray Group said: “Without a doubt, this year, as for most businesses, has been our most challenging yet. October 2018, the Huws Gray Group has continued to push forward with ambitious plans for growth. In 2000 it purchased Welshpool-based AC Roof Trusses completing just before the first lockdown.

Also purchased in 2020 were the family-owned Yorkshire businesses Milford Building Supplies, in Leeds, and Bradford based Uriah Woodhead & Son, and its sister branch, Nelsons of Keighley. These join existing branches in Bradford, Heckmondwike and Horbury Bridge, Market Weighton and Burnley and significantly strengthens the company’s presence in the county.

2021’s first purchase for Huws Gray is Builders Supplies (West Coast) Ltd. Founded in 1938, the company operates from 4 sites along the Fylde coast, including

Fleetwood, Preston, Morecambe and Cleveleys.

Matthew Owen, Head of Acquisitions for the Huws Gray Group, said: “Builders Supplies (West Coast) Ltd have always had a commitment to efficient customer service, which fits well with the Huws Gray ethos. We are optimistic about the future, as this represents a fantastic opportunity for us to strengthen our existing presence in North West Lancashire”

BSWC Owners Peter and Bethan Worthington said: “We would like to thank all our loyal customers and teams for their support over the years, and for making the company the success it is today. We’re confident that Huws Gray will take the business to the next level and we’re pleased to be leaving it in good hands.”
