The Markovitz family of companies has grown since setting up in 1935, both locally and nationwide, and now encompasses eight builders’ and plumbers’ merchants, three civils depots, eleven insulation and drylining distribution centres, two luxury kitchen and bathroom studios, a specialist stove & cooker showroom, as well as a 2 AA-rosette awarded restaurant with rooms, The Merchant’s Yard in Tideswell. This is in the orginal premises bought by Maurice Markovitz in 1935.

Founded in 1995, MKM has branches across the United Kingdom from Redruth to Elgin, Norwich and Llandudno. Each site is run independently by its Branch Directors and their hand-picked teams, supported by a Central Support office in Hull.
In 2023, the company acquired four branches and a distribution centre from independent builders and plumbers merchant John Nicholls. The branches, in Banbury, Rugby, Bicester, Kidlington, and Long Hanborough (distribution only) have been rebranded as MKM.

Established in 1973, Myers Group is a fourth-generation family owned group based in Huddersfield. Its offer ranges from skip hire, aggregates and Readymix concrete to kitchens, bathrooms and timber. There are 16 merchant branches, with the latest acquisition, in January 2024, of the branch in Delph, previously part of Holmebuild. Based at Gatehead Mill off Delph New Road, the location opens up opportunities the Saddleworth area, whilst complementing the existing branches in Milnsbridge and Brighouse.
